Former Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone returned to Austria to present the winner’s medal to Lando Norris. Lando Norris will likely remember the 2025 Austrian GP as one of the best weekends of his career so far.
The McLaren driver, having already secured an impressive pole position on Saturday, managed to win the wheel-to-wheel battle against teammate Oscar Piastri, also gaining crucial points in the championship race.

The British driver then received his winner’s medal from none other than former Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone, who was invited to Spielberg by FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem.
“I think it’s really nice that the President gives a personal congratulations to the winning competitor'', the English businessman said.
''As he could not attend the Formula 1 race here in Austria, he asked me to present his medal for him which I am pleased and honoured to do''.
''It was also great to be there, as though it might seem strange, this was the first time in almost 70 years in this sport that I’ve actually been on the podium! So, that was also nice .”
With his third win of the season at the Red Bull Ring — and the seventh of his career — Norris now finds himself 15 points behind his teammate. The championship remains wide open, with thirteen races still to go until Abu Dhabi.
