No retirement yet for Hamilton: 'That's not how he wants to end it'

Lewis Hamilton is in deep trouble with Mercedes, but Ted Kravitz doesn't believe the seven-time world champion will give up easily. Indeed, if he finishes like this, it is what he will be remembered for.
For Hamilton, the Imola Grand Prix was the low point though. In qualifying, the seven-time world champion did not get further than a thirteenth place and after losing even a place in the sprint race, he finished in that thirteenth place again on Sunday. Compared to George Russell who finished fourth, Lewis' performance was painful.

Balking Hamilton

Kravitz let it be known in his Sky Sports program Ted's Notebook that Lewis is certainly annoyed and thinking about his future. However, according to the journalist, Hamilton wants revenge for Abu Dhabi 2021 and this is not the way he wants to end his career. At the moment, he can still wait and hope that things will get better. He is still happy within the team according to Kravitz.
Hamilton also considered retiring in 2021, but then decided he didn't want to be reminded of that final in Abu Dhabi. That may not define him. ''I also don’t think he’d want a season of failure, which this will probably end up being, to define him either,'' Kravitz says of that. So Hamilton will still want to keep going and hope for improvement from his team.
