With just thirty seconds left on the clock in Q3 of Monaco qualifying, Sergio Perez hit the wall. Carlos Sainz hit the Mexican and was also unable to continue. The Red flag fell and the session ended.
History repeats itself. Charles Leclerc grabs pole position again in Monaco under the red flag. Perez made a mistake and ended up stationary on the track around the corner just before the tunnel. Sainz did not see Perez and drove heavily into the front wheels. Coincidentally, elsewhere on the track Fernando Alonso also fell silent. Three broken down cars at once caused the red flag.
Charles Leclerc takes pole position and Max Verstappen could not improve anymore. The Dutchman will start on P4 tomorrow during the race.
