McLaren talent emerges: "You can't ignore him"

McLaren are reportedly considering replacing Daniel Ricciardo at the end of the season. While Oscar Piastri would be high on the list to fill his place, the team has more talents in its ranks. Colton Herta, for example, is also in the running.

Herta was given the chance to test the 2021 McLaren car in Portugal in July, in which he showed the British stable how much talent he has. The American, who this year still competes in the IndyCar Series, thus seems ready for a challenge in Formula 1.

John Rendal Hildebrand Jr. also has faith in Herta's qualities. The racing driver states in conversation with The Race that Herta has already proven what he is capable of and that he is able to adapt well to the situation, which may just make him successful at McLaren.

"You can't ignore him," judged Hildebrand. "He’s still young. He’s in the right spot of still having peak performance and an ability to learn and adapt to how things work in a different way."
