Mattia Binotto admits in conversation with Motorsport.com that in the first half of the season he had a hard time with the wrong choices Ferrari made. The team boss mainly took responsibility for the situation himself, he says in the interview.
Binotto found it a difficult situation to deal with on two levels. While on the one hand he could imagine how the people in the factory felt about the engine problems, on the other he was saddened by the strategic blunders made by Ferrari.
Binotto stresses, however, that he decided to remain calm and took the time to analyse how Ferrari could get out of these problems. The team leader reckons that after the summer break the Italian team will come out of the situation stronger and that Ferrari will fight back.

Binotto expresses confidence in team

He also believes it is important to give the team around him the utmost confidence. According to Binotto, Ferrari has excellent people who will help Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz to achieve good performances. Binotto sees that the team is very close and expects this to have a positive effect on the results.
