Andrea Stella is confident McLaren can hold their own against Max Verstappen in the title fight. “We are very excited by the idea that we could be the ones attempting to kind of stop Verstappen's dominance”
- Andrea StellaSpeaking at the team principals’ press conference in Brazil on how is the mood within the team, the Italian team principal said: “The mood is certainly very positive. We are very excited to be in this strong position in the Drivers' Championship. We have, I think, what is needed. We have all the conditions: a fast car, two fast drivers, a team that is prepared and determined.
Stella described himself as “excited” at the prospect of ending Verstappen’s dominance, while admitting the fight will be tight and extend all the way to the final race in Abu Dhabi.
“We are also very excited by the idea that we could be the ones attempting to kind of stop Verstappen's dominance. We're talking about the champion of the last four races, so for us, we just feel a sense of privilege to be in this position, and we will definitely keep the fight going until the last corner in Abu Dhabi.”

Brundle pictures worrying title scenario for Verstappen
The four-time world champion had a tricky opening practice, never managing to put together a clean lap and aborting his only soft-tyre attempt before returning to the pits.
Norris and Piastri, meanwhile, dominated from start to finish, the only two drivers to dip below the 1:10 mark. The Brit edged out his teammate by just 0.023 seconds, setting up a tantalizing battle for pole in the sprint qualifying.
Brundle pointed out that the Australian has clearly regained his form, looking sharper than in recent races, while the Dutchman will have to push hard to get the upper hand this weekend.
