After 239 Grands Prix, Nico Hulkenberg could step on the podium in F1. The German was ecstatic and received a flood of compliments, including from McLaren.
On the podium, Hulkenberg stood with the two McLaren drivers. However afterwards, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri were criticised for not celebrating his achievement the proper way.
Sam Bird, McLaren's Formula E driver, was full of praise for the German's performance.
"I am so thrilled for Nico. We started at the same time. He got into Formula 1 in 2010 with Williams. He's a guy that has loads of talent. And for whatever reasons, he has never been given a big shot with a big team, when drivers with less capable speed than him have been. He's been denied so many opportunities,'' he said on the BBC's F1: Chequered Flag programme.
‘’He's been denied that podium for so many years. To see him get it now, with an unfancied car, was absolutely superb. He drove the wheels off it today. They made the right calls and the right times, lady luck was on his side, and see him get a podium... simply brilliant."

Max Verstappen congratulates Hülkenberg after the GP Silverstone

Sam Bird was not only the only person to be happy for Hülkenberg , after the German finally stepped onto the podium in Silverstone.
Max Verstappen was the first to congratulate Hülkenberg on achieving the podium after the race. The German was also moved by the gesture of the four-time world champion.
