McLaren Applied Technologies have revealed their MCLE 2050 project which includes all grand prix racing being electric by 2050 as well as having a huge emphasis on the interaction with the fans.
The car is supposedly able to reach speeds of over 300 mph as well as being able to use an AI as a ‘co-pilot’ to help them during the races.
The aim with the 2050 project is very much built around the passion of Formula 1 and the human side of this, a theme which was very much explored in the announcement video.
Speaking on a video on the McLaren YouTube channel Sean Mcharg the Insight and Design Strategy Lead said: “All of this allowed us to create a hypothesis that embodied market direction and people’s hopes for the future of motorsport.”
“Our research gave us a unique first hand insight into the psyche of a Formula 1 fan and their deep personal relationship with the sport.

“We learnt that fans and other enthusiasts sought purity from the sport, and above all else they had a strong belief that racing is human at its core.
“A sport of passion and one that epitomises the limits of human endeavours.” Added Mcharg.
