Safety car driver Bernd Mayländer has been driving Formula 1 for 23 seasons. He is behind the wheel in the car that enters the track at a yellow flag. The 52-year-old German indicates that quite a few things have changed within Formula 1 over the years.
"Even what we covered 20 years ago, or nearly 20 years ago, by a safety car, that will never happen now in the modern Formula 1 seasons or Grand Prix’s," Mayländer told the F1 Nation podcast.

Mayländer has been around for a while

How many Grands Prix has the German attended by now? "435 or so," said Mäylander. Of course, he did not have to actually get behind the wheel during all the races. The 51-year-old driver has been driving the car in question since 1999.
"Montreal is always spectacular, it’s a great place, it’s one of my favorite grand prix’s so yeah let’s see how many laps I do." the safety car driver told me with a laugh.
