The fact that Max Verstappen enjoys sim racing is hardly news, but it is also part of a special pre-race routine for the Dutchman. Verstappen explained he follows sim racing to switch off ahead of sitting in his real Formula One car.

Sim racing is the answer

Prior to his stint at the virtual 24h of Dayton sim race, the Red Bull driver answered many questions from fans about a variety of topics. When asked about what does he do to stay focused before a race, Verstappen explained that the answer for that is also sim racing.
"Yeah, I think I'm quite relaxed actually with those kind of things. I mean, most of the time, if there is a sim race on, I'm still watching the sim race until the last minute, before I jump in the car," the now four-time world champion explained during TeamReadline's Twitch stream.
That race with his team, however, did not go very well for the Dutchman. TeamReadlined started strongly and were leading for a while, but Verstappen's stint did not go smoothly, as the Red Bull driver caused a crash on the wet track and also received two 40-second penalties after driving unsafely into the pit lane.
