Brundle not present at every Grand Prix because of new contract

Martin Brundle will appear to do his grid walk during less Grand Prix weekends this year. No matter whether you watch your Formula 1 races on Viaplay or F1TV, everyone is familiar with Brundle on Sky Sports. This year, as a result, the former British driver will not be present as frequently.

The Daily Mail reports that Brundle's new contract with Sky Sports states that he will only attend 16 of the 24 races in 2024. This is said to be to save costs. Apart from the fact that Brundle would not be there for all races, race coverage is also sometimes done from a studio in London as opposed to an on-track commentary booth. Brundle was replaced this weekend by world champion Nico Rosberg.

Martin Brundle drove over 165 races in Formula 1 between 1984 and 1996, without compiting in 1990. He reached the podium nine times never stepping on the top of the podium and managed to collect 98 points. Of course, this was at a time when a different points system applied. He later became a regular commentator at the BBC, alongside Murray Walker. Since 2012, Brundle has been with Sky Sports where, until now, he has been present at every race.
