Marko: "Sebastian should be in a different environment, with another team"

Helmut Marko tells Sebastian Vettel to leave Ferrari because he needs a "different environment". The four-time world champion now has very slim hopes of winning the world title during the 2019 Formula 1 season. Max Verstappen is ahead of him in the F1 world championship, and teammate Charles Leclerc sits just three points behind.

Vettel, who might be trying too hard, has made many mistakes during recent races. During the British Grand Prix, the former Red Bull man drove into Marko's current driver Verstappen. Having assessed the recent months, Marko believes his former friend should move teams.

"You make mistakes when you are no longer yourself. It happens in your subconscious," Marko told Auto Bild. "Sebastian should be in a different environment. In other words: with another team. However, I don't see any possibility of that for 2020."

Verstappen also had a say on the matter. While he didn't directly suggest a team change for Vettel, he believes being at Ferrari is a problem for the German driver.

"At Red Bull Racing he hardly made any mistakes. You don't forget how to drive. Why do these things keep happening to him more and more at Ferrari?" Verstappen asked.
