Former
McLaren-, Renault- and Haas-driver
Kevin Magnussen will take part in the 24 Hours of
Le Mans in August. He will do so with a very special teammate: his father, Jan Magnussen will drive the event together with him.
It is the first time the former
Formula 1 driver will compete with his father. Together with Dane Anders Fjordback, they will take on the challenge with LMP2 team High Class Racing.
Kevin Magnussen announced the news on his Twitter page.
"Here we go! My dad and I are going to be racing in the same team at Le Mans this year in LMP2. It’s something we’ve tried to do for years and truly a dream come true", the text accompanying the tweet read.
Replaced by Verstappen
A lesser-known fact is that Jan Magnussen was also a
Formula 1 driver. He raced for McLaren, where he replaced an ill Mika Hakkinen, and later for the Stewart team. He didn't make much of an impression and was eventually replaced by
Jos Verstappen.
