Max Verstappen took pole position with his last lap during the British Grand Prix qualifying. He will now start from the front row, just ahead of the McLarens. Red Bull brought upgrades to Silverstone, which, after some extra work on Friday, proved to help on Saturday.

Verstappen 'lucky' upgrades worked

The RB21 did not look to be in the best position during the first two practice sessions. However, Red Bull Racing worked endlessly to get the car into shape ahead of the third session and qualifying. Nevertheless, it paid off as Verstappen set purple sector after purple sector and took pole position.

After being asked in the press conference about how much work had to be done to make the car work for him, he said, "Sometimes more than other weekends. I think it just caught us out yesterday that we had that much understeer in the car, which we didn't expect to happen."
"Then you need to work around with the tools that you have. Luckily, we went in the right direction with the tools that you have. Luckily we went into the right direction with it."
And work around it was what Red Bull did as, according to Horner, the team ended up completing work overnight.
