The conversation with the Dutch media - including GPblog - was only a few minutes old and so far, it was only about his phenomenal pole for the British Grand Prix. It clearly made Verstappen feel good, after all the stories that have been appearing about his future these last days.

Because which team Verstappen will compete for in 2026 is what everyone in the F1 paddock is currently concerned about. He was even asked about this during the conversation last Thursday with the international media. So when the topic shifts to something else, Verstappen loves it. "Yes, but ultimately I only say what I want to say," indicates the Dutchman.

Whether or not to go to Mercedes or stay at Red Bull; pages are written about that. "A lot of people write about it or say things about it or think they know all about it. Ultimately, the only one who really knows is myself. And a few people around me. But that's okay. I just do my thing."

Verstappen has little to say

All these questions about what will happen in 2026, among other things, result in Verstappen saying little to the media. This was also the case last Thursday during the media day with the international press. Verstappen seemed to do that on autopilot. "Yes, [I have] not much emotion. Or yes, I always stay very neutral. I didn't have much to say anyway, so that was that."
