Juan Pablo Montoya believes Charles Leclerc won’t stay much longer if Ferrari continues to fail to provide him with a competitive car.
“I don't understand why everyone thought Ferrari would be competitive”
- Juan Pablo Montoya
The former Colombian driver struggles to understand the huge expectations surrounding Ferrari at the start of the season, also pointing out that the Monegasque’s patience isn’t limitless and will eventually run out, despite being tied to a long-term contract.
“I don't understand why everyone thought Ferrari would be competitive,” he told a betting site. “They've had an average car for years and nothing has changed.”
He then added: “Next year could be positive for Ferrari, but if they're not competitive, how much longer can we expect Leclerc to stay? How can he be happy with consistently finishing third?”

Montoya: Bearman's performance could force Ferrari to make hard choice

While Lewis Hamilton continues to endure a season of few highs and many lows, Oliver Bearman has delivered a string of top-level performances in recent races, even coming close to the podium in Mexico.
The young Britsh talent, after a start to the season marked by a few mistakes, has stepped up decisively, carrying the team on his shoulders and bringing them closer to sixth place in the Constructors’ Championship.

The Colombian instead suggested an unconventional role for the seven-time world champion, no longer as a driver but as an ambassador for the Maranello team.
