Charles Leclerc will miss out on the first practice session of the Austrian Grand Prix. Instead, driving his SF-25 will be Formula 2 driver Dino Beganovic.
Leclerc will only have two practice sessions for the Austrian Grand Prix. While this race weekend usually is a sprint weekend, it has returned to its original format, opening up a slot for teams to give rookie drivers a chance to practice in a Formula 1 car.

Leclerc to miss FP1 in Austria

Beganovic is a part of the Ferrari Driver Academy and has driven for Leclerc already once this season. Beganovic also participated in the first practice session for the Bahrain Grand Prix in April. During that session, he placed 14th with 20 laps completed.
Beganovic races for Hitech and is currently competing in his first full season of F2. He has been linked to the FDA for several years now.
As this is Leclercs second time giving up his seat, he has now fufilled his duty in providing the rookie drivers with practice time. His teammate, Hamilton on the other hand, is yet to give up his seat for a session this season.
According to the new rules and regulations, each team will run a rookie driver four times during the 2025 Formula 1 season.
