Charles Leclerc was just a few laps away from winning the British Grand Prix. The Ferrari driver showed his strengths throughout the weekend, but it was the race on Sunday that really stood out.
However, he does not expect Ferrari to find themselves in a position to fight with Mercedes more often this season. "Before the weekend we had absolutely no hope of fighting for the win here," Leclerc told the Mexican branch of Motorsport.com.

Leclerc thanks good result to good collaboration at Ferrari

"It shows that we are doing a great job as a team. We need to keep working on that because that's what we want to do all the time: fight for victory," the 23-year-old Monegasque continued. "It's great to fight with Lewis, but we can't expect that to happen more often this year."
By his own admission, his second place at Silverstone was one of his best podium finishes in Formula One to date. "There wasn't a lap where I made a big mistake. And during the first stint, with the engine problems we had, I thought my race was over. I had to do quite a lot at the wheel for it, but I think we handled the situation very well and minimized the problem for the rest of the race," Leclerc said.
