Charles Leclerc had a good second free practice with a tenth place, but had to deal with a big crash at the end of the practice. In turn 22 he lost control of his car and hit the wall hard. Luckily for him, he can continue the race weekend.
Leclerc's team was quite worried when the driver returned home with major damage to his car. Ferrari informed Motorsport.com that both his engine and chassis remained intact.
Leclerc was therefore quite relieved, although he also realised that his team is facing a tough weekend. "I feel sorry for the team who will have to do a lot of work to get my car back together," stressed Leclerc, who promises that he will set a good qualifying session on Saturday. "I will try to repay the team for the extra work."

Ferrari in battle with McLaren

The Italian racing team can't put the current situation to good use. The team is in a battle with McLaren for third place in the constructors' championship. With a gap of almost 40 points the opponent still has a chance, although Ferrari has the best papers.
