Lawrence Stroll, father of Lance Stroll has reportedly brought Force India. It will help him provide a seat for his son in 2019 as he looks to be leaving Williams. Force India have been struggling to find funds for development which could also be supported by Stroll.
Earlier in the week, it was reported that the Silverstone based team are on the brink of administration and bankruptcy. At the British Grand Prix, Mallya told reporters the team was up for sale.
Since then, Stroll senior has apparently struck a deal and details will be announced in due course. The investment will also secure 400 jobs. However, the drivers may not be safe as Lance Stroll will certainly get one seat.
It’s likely that the team will change their name. A feat they tried to achieve in the winter but nothing ever came of it. Over the last few days, Toto Wolff has demonstrated his interest in picking up a junior team, similar to Ferrari and Sauber. It’s possible that Stroll could look for a deal with the Mercedes team.
Speculation will continue to develop until an official announcement is made.
