Good news for visitors to the Las Vegas Grand Prix, an announced large-scale strike by hospitality workers that was to start the weekend before the Grand Prix has been averted. The hotels involved on the Las Vegas Strip and the union have reached a tentative agreement.

Strike averted just before F1 weekend in Las Vegas

The Culinary and Bartenders Union announced earlier this week that 35,000 people were planning to go on strike. Hospitality staff in the city demanded better working conditions and pay. The negotiations took dozens of hours, but mega-hotels MGM Resorts International and rival Caesars Entertainment reached a tentative agreement with the union just in time.
The strike was due to start on Friday and the agreement was announced on Thursday. Although the agreement has not yet been confirmed, it is enough to avert the strike, according to Fox5 Vegas. The strike would not have hindered the F1 event itself, but visiting F1 fans would have been troubled. The union had urged visitors and other tourists not to visit hotels and casinos during the strike.
