Important weekend for Antonelli: Test at Imola with Mercedes

There is currently an empty seat at Mercedes from 2025. For Toto Wolff, the task now is to see who is best suited for this role. To make this more clear for himself, Andrea Kimi Antonelli will test with Mercedes at Imola this weekend.

Following the announcement of Lewis Hamilton's departure, it is unexpectedly up to Mercedes team boss-Toto Wolff to find his replacement. A lot of names are being linked with the empty seat, but F2 driver Andrea Kimi Antonelli is one of the common names linked to the seat. World Champion Max Verstappen has also been linked to this seat.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Mercedes has hired the Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari for two days. At the circuit in Imola, Antonelli would be allowed to make his debut in the W13. This was Mercedes' 2022 Formula 1 car.

Officially, no in season testing is allowed with the current Formula 1 cars. However, teams are allowed to hold private test days with cars that are at least two years old.
