Antonelli starts F2 feature race from pit lane after drama

The Formula 2 feature race in Barcelona started dramatically for Kimi Andrea Antonelli. The Italian was allowed to start the race from fifth place, but he then failed to get his car off the line during the formation lap.

After a fine qualifying session, Antonelli was about to start the feature race in fifth place. He just could not get his car out of place, causing him to be overtaken by everyone prior to the formation lap.

As a result, the Italian had to start the race from the pit lane. A windfall for him is that a safety car came after the very first lap. This allowed the 17-year-old to rejoin the field.

Lewis Hamilton's supposed replacement is currently in 20th place in the main race. In the sprint race on Saturday, he finished 15th. The Italian reports feeling rain falling, so this could still present opportunities for him.
