Special character Verstappen: 'Helps people around him'

In an interview on the YouTube channel of Verstappen.com, Atze Kerkhof speaks enthusiastically about the way Max Verstappen expresses himself. The team manager of Team Redline, of which the Dutch driver is a part, thinks this is how he makes a difference in Formula 1.

"How I know Max is completely different than probably how the world sees him," Kerkhof began about Verstappen's character. In recent years, he experienced the two-time world champion as a direct person and clearly communicates what he wants from the team.

Although it is not common in many countries to communicate between themselves like this, Kerkhof thinks the typically Dutch manner is a big advantage within Red Bull Racing. "He's very direct and I think it's helps him and people around him a lot."

At the same time, he notices how much pressure and attention Verstappen has to deal with. Where, because of his achievements in recent years, expectations have continued to rise, media have likewise become increasingly interested in the rest of Verstappen's life.

According to Kerkhof, however, the driver needs to keep a cool head and keep his concentration. "That is also the reason why he maybe needs to keep his personal life to keep it seperate from the media to make sure that he can always perform on the highest level."
