The Spanish Grand Prix turned into a major disappointment for Max Verstappen. The Dutchman fell back to tenth place after a time penalty and saw his deficit on the McLaren duo further increase. At the same time, Kelly Piquet, mother of their newborn daughter Lily, shared a personal update on Instagram about her recovery after giving birth.
Piquet gave birth at the end of April to her first child with Verstappen and her second daughter after Penelope. The couple announced the birth of daughter Lily via social media. Since then, Piquet had largely stayed out of the spotlight, but during the race weekend in Spain, she posted a video on her Instagram stories indicating feeling more like herself again.
"When your old self slowly starts coming back after giving birth", read the caption of the video. The footage showed a man doing a notable dance in company – a light-hearted way to indicate that she is physically and mentally recovering after an intensive period.

Verstappen greatly frustrated after GP Spain

For Verstappen, the weekend in Barcelona was far less light-hearted. He came into contact with George Russell, which eventually resulted in a ten-second time penalty and three penalty points. This dropped him back to tenth place. Verstappen made it clear over the team radio how frustrated he was about the situation, especially after he was incorrectly informed by his team that he had to give back a position to Russell.
Due to the disappointing result, Verstappen saw his deficit on Oscar Piastri, who won the race, and Lando Norris, increase again. Piastri leads the championship, with Norris closely behind. Verstappen is third, but must hope for better results in the upcoming races to find reconnection.
