In the week after the Qatar Grand Prix, it emerged that Bernie Ecclestone had reached a hefty settlement with UK prosecutors. British TV presenter Jeremy Clarkson finds this rather amusing.

Jeremy Clarkson laughs at huge Ecclestone fine

Clarkson, known for programmes such as Top Gear and The Grand Tour, highlighted Ecclestone's case in his column for The Sun. Ecclestone, who turns 93 later this month, pleaded guilty to fraud. Ecclestone allegedly failed to declare a fund worth some £400 million to tax. His settlement required him to pay over €710 million. In doing so, the Briton escaped further prosecution. However, a suspended prison sentence was included in the settlement.
Clarkson wrote about it in his column: "Having a bad day? Well it could be worse. Former F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone has just been fined £330million for tax irregularities. That is almost certainly the biggest financial penalty ever imposed on an individual, and as a result, the poor old man is now down to his last £2billion."

Clarkson is a familiar face in the motorsport world through his work as presenter of the British car programme Top Gear. Earlier this year, the Brit pulled another playful stunt by keeping word of a bet he shared with the world via X. Clarkson bought a beer for the entire Alpine team. Watch the story below.
