Jenson Button has revealed how much of a bonus driver get for winning a race and winning a world championship. There is a lot of money in Formula 1 and the drivers take a healthy slice of this but things aren't often as they seem. Different drivers earn different amounts of money and Button has revealed all he knows.
In the 2009 World Champions new book 'How To Be An F1 Driver: My Guide To Life in The Fast Lane,' Button opens up on all things Formula 1.
"It is funny that drivers usually receive no bonus for winning the world," Button said as he talks about the bonuses F1 drivers earn. "Some drivers get about a million if they win a race."
“Just like with football, the players are paid better than the managers. Hamilton is the best-paid employee of the whole Mercedes. It is certainly a lot, but do not forget that they only have a relatively short period of time to earn this.”
It is interesting to have the inside scoop on how much F1 drivers earn through race bonuses. It's fair to say that the top drivers are earning a very nice salary indeed!
