Jenson Button says that it was "a strange race" for Sebastian Vettel, as he was told to hand over the lead of the race to teammate Charles Leclerc.
Vettel took the lead at the start of the race, but was not supposed to hold it, as per a deal with Leclerc before the race.
The German pulled away and started to create a gap, but was undercut by his teammate during the pit stop phase. However, soon after, the #5 Ferrari ground to a halt with an MGU-K issue, ending his race and his hopes of a second win in succession.
Button said on Sky Sports: "This was such a strange race for Vettel because he obviously got a jump on his team-mate at the start.
"Sebastian seemed very quick, very competitive, and with that failure it really hurt the team because it meant that Mercedes could have a free pit-stop and came away with the victory."
