Jacques Villeneuve believes the actions which Max Verstappen took in ignoring the yellow flag in qualifying yesterday make him a "bad role model". The Dutchman continued racing despite there being a yellow flag following a crash to Valtteri Bottas and ultimately earned a three-place penalty on the grid.
Verstappen has won the past two races in Mexico and looked to be moving a step closer to achieving a third, but will now have it all to do, starting behind Ferrari duo Charles Leclerc and Sebastian Vettel as well as Lewis Hamilton.
"The rules are difficult, you have to tweak it, it has changed over the years, there are now these micro sectors, so there is no question about setting the fastest lap time or not, " Villeneuve told motorsport-magazin.com.
"I think it's a bad role model. "He was on pole, he did not think too much, that was not really clever."
