Italian GP red-flagged after Leclerc's high-speed Ferrari crash

There were also sparks between the two Ferrari drivers, with Charles Leclerc forcing his teammate slightly off track and costing him several positions, leaving Hamilton down in tenth place. The Briton complained over team radio that he had been pushed off the track.

At the end of the opening lap, Russell got the better of Gasly to take the lead of the Grand Prix, while Leclerc also took advantage to pass the Frenchman, only to lose the position again shortly afterwards.

On lap three, Leclerc spun at very high speed at the Parabolica, bringing his race to an early end. The incident also triggered a red flag due to damage to the barriers.

Kimi Antonelli, meanwhile, made a strong start, taking advantage of both his launch and the incidents at the start to move up the order. He will line up in 12th position for the restart.

The FIA has confirmed that tyre barrier repairs are ongoing and that at least 15 minutes will be required before the race can resume.
