The last piece of the podium puzzle that refused to drop for Nico Hulkenberg along a very long streak of 239 Grand Prix, finally came down last Sunday at Silverstone for the German. However, Lewis Hamilton, was the last hurdle the Sauber driver had to overcome to be able to finally stand a-top the podium in F1.
Despite his being in a much slower Sauber, compared to the top of the line cars that are currently sitting closer to the sharp end of the grid, Hulkenberg was able to finish P3 at what was a woeful race.
Where names like Oscar Piastri, Max Verstappen, Charles Leclerc and George Russell, dropped out of contention due to mistakes, be that behind the wheel, or from the pitwall, the German and the Hinwill-based team managed to keep it clean and take what is Hulkenberg's best-ever result in F1.
In the final stages of the race, after having made it past Lance Stroll a hard charging Hamilton was hunting the Sauber driver down. Had he overtaken Hulkenberg the Brit would not have broken his longest-ever podium-less streak across his F1 career: before Silverstone it was 13 races, after the British GP Hamilton now stands at 14 consecutive races without standing on the podium.

Hamilton reveals true feelings regarding Hulkenberg's Silverstone podium

On social media, Hulkenberg has been hailed by both friend and foe for his achievement. On Instagram, F1's official account celebrated Hulkenberg's long-time-coming achievement with a post and pinned it on its profile. Many drivers and brands associated with the series shared their thoughts on the German's milestone and Hamilton's name could not be absent from the list.
"👏🏾Well deserved," wrote the Ferrari man in respects to Hulkenberg finally nabbing what had up until now been an ever-elusive result, that back in 2012, at the British Grand Prix, was denied after an incident with Hamilton himself, in what is widely believed could have been the German's first ever career win.
