Aged just 22, British driver Jake Dennis got his first real taste of driving an F1 car in today’s testing session. Currently Red Bull’s simulator development driver, Dennis made the step into the real world.
Dennis races for a Swiss team in the Blancpain GT series, but today got behind the wheel of a Formula One car. Speaking after the event, he seemed very positive.
“My first day in the RB14 went really well,” Dennis said.
“Obviously it’s a big step up from what I’m used to in GT racing, but I got used to the speed and the grip quite quickly.
“The morning session went pretty smoothly, and then in the afternoon I managed to get quite a few laps under my belt.”

Red Bull threw Dennis in at the deep end to allow correlation between laps on the simulator and in the real world.
“We have a few things to work on back in Milton Keynes to help Max and Daniel and make it even more realistic for them.
“But overall super happy - hopefully I’ll be back in the RB14 soon!”
It’s certainly a name for all the British motorsport fans to keep an eye on for the future.
