An absolutely forgettable qualifying for Red Bull at their home race in Austria, with Max Verstappen only seventh and Yuki Tsunoda once again knocked out in Q1, finishing eighteenth.
While Yuki Tsunoda’s early qualifying exits are becoming all too familiar, Red Bull had hoped at least to put on a strong show for their home fans with the usual Max Verstappen. However, even he was unable this time to lift the Milton Keynes team’s spirits.

Unlucky afternoon for Red Bull

Caught at the end of qualifying by Viaplay, Christian Horner commented on the unfortunate afternoon for Red Bull: ''(Max) reacted to the yellow, which is the right thing to do. There was nothing on his dash, but he saw the flag, obviously, where Pierre had spun and it was a great shame because that lap, you know, on his compare time on the Delta, the predicted time was going to be a 1.04.4''.
''So that could have put him on the front row, almost certainly third. So it is what it is. So we just have to fight back from there tomorrow''.
Speaking about what could happen during the race and the chances of a comeback, Horner commented: ''So anything can happen. I mean, you've got to survive turns one and three first. And then we've seen in previous years, sticky cars play a role here. So look, frustrating for today, but opportunity to bounce back tomorrow''.
