Herbert backs Sky boycott: 'You have to be able to be outspoken'

Red Bull boycotted Sky F1 in 2022 for a week after it was unhappy with comments made by Ted Kravitz. Ex-presenter Johnny Herbert says he understands the Red Bull team's decision. The British journalist and Sky have parted ways.

Speaking to the Daily Express, Herbert, who was F1 presenter at Sky from 2012 to 2022, said he understood Red Bull's reasons for the boycott. He added that he sometimes had to be careful while working as a presenter. "I was always free to express what I wanted, but if you had a bit of a go at a team they would get upset," Herbert said. The Brit is referring to the shop floor at Sky at the time.

Ex-F1 driver Johnny Herbert says he understands Red Bull's decision to boycott British broadcaster Sky Sports during the 2022 season. "I get it, but when it's down to a team, I always think you should be able to be as outspoken as you want to be in certain situations." Herbert said.

Red Bull's boycott of Sky lasted a week, until executives from Sky met with Red Bull's management to resolve the issue.
