Has Ricciardo already regretted? 'Renault has finally started to rise'

With his third place at the Nürburgring, Daniel Ricciardo has secured Renault's first podium since returning to Formula 1. Ross Brawn has not seen Renault deliver what was possible for years and is pleased that it has finally succeeded.
In 2016 Renault returned to Formula 1 as a factory team. In 2011 it was Nick Heidfeld who took the final podium for Renault. Since the return, this had not yet been achieved, but Ricciardo has changed that. The Australian sent the R.S. 20 to a neat third place.

Regret at Ricciardo

''I have felt for some time that there is a lot of potential at Renault, but that they never perform constantly. I have to say, however, that they have started to do so since this season and the team is on the rise. If they can extend this line to 2022 as Alpine, they can go back to the top," said Ross Brawn in his Formula1.com column.
Fernando Alonso also returns to Renault in 2021 and the question is whether Ricciardo already regrets his departure. ''I don't think he is that way. He left Red Bull Racing as well. He just thinks calmly about a choice and then sticks to it. Of course he will have had moments of doubt, but I think he will be fully committed to a new team'', concludes the technical director of Formula 1.
