Ferrari have often referred to the execution of the races being primordial to nabbing a good result in the F1 2025 season, and while this remains the case, for the Austrian Grand Prix the Scuderia will have a bit more 'help' team principal Frederic Vasseur has revealed.
Speaking after the Canadian Grand Prix to media present at the track, Vasseur revealed Ferrari's development plan, with un imminent upgrade set to be implemented as early as Spielberg, the next Formula One championship round.
“We will have an upgrade soon, before the UK. And, perhaps, another one a bit later,” said the Frenchman before again shifting the focus to the execution in the races, whilst at the same time downplaying the impact of the incoming upgrades for the Scuderia.
“But, honestly, today, I think there is much more in the execution and what you are getting from the car than in the potential of the car itself."
“Now, we are at the end of the life of these regulations, and we all know that, when we are bringing something on track, we are more speaking about hundredths than tenths.”

Vasseur warns upgrade may not work straight away

As was the case with McLaren's 'mermaid tails' Canadian Grand Prix front wing, Vasseur refrains from stating the upgrades will be effective right after their integration to the SF-25, highlighting once more the importance of the team's operation throughout the race weekend.
“If you don’t do a good usage of the car because the set-up is a bit different, you can lose tenths.”
“A couple of times, on our side at least – and we are not the only one – when we brought upgrades in the past, we needed one or two races to adapt the car, to adapt the set-up to the new version."
“Honestly, I think that, and I want to put the focus on the team, there is much more [to come from] the execution than the pure potential of the car. But we will bring something.”

Vasseur sets sights on front row starts for Hamilton and Leclerc

Regarding the potential results Ferrari could achieve in the upcoming races, Vasseur let his ambition shine through despite 'massive Canada failure. “I think that we were able to be in front in Monaco, we were able to be in front in the first part of the quali lap there."
“We have to target doing this. But if we want to achieve, if we want to start from the first rows, and to have a clean weekend like Monaco, we need to do a very smooth weekend in terms of execution. It’s where we failed massively in Canada," he concluded.
