Lewis Hamilton has stressed that he will end his Formula One career before he is completely burnt out. The Briton does not want to leave the sport with an empty battery, but he also wants to have energy left for other things.
Hamilton's F1 contract with Mercedes expires at the end of 2023. However, the Briton has no intention of retiring just yet. Hamilton believes he can still achieve a lot in the sport, both on and off the track. Nevertheless, Hamilton believes he will leave the sport once he loses the motivation to continue.
"When I talk about fuel left in the tank, I am still fighting for those things and I still feel I have plenty to go", he tells the Evening Standard. "More likely than not, if I stop, I will still have fuel left in the tank, I don’t think I’m going to go as far as completely burnt out and have nothing left but hopefully that’s a long way off.”

Hamilton wants eighth title

Hamilton lost the title fight against Max Verstappen in 2021 and failed to secure his eighth world title. The seven-time world champion still aims to break Michael Schumacher' s record. This season Mercedes is chasing top teams Red Bull Racing and Ferrari, but the Briton is not giving up.
