Lewis Hamilton has admitted it is going to be hard for the
Mercedes team to beat the
Ferraris in the final stint of the season but is looking forward to beating them when they are at their best.
Ferrari won the three races following the summer break, with
Charles Leclerc claiming two victories and
Sebastian Vettel victorious in Singapore. However, Mercedes returned to familiar circumstances taking a one-two in Russia, their first since the
British Grand Prix.
Ahead of the
Japanese Grand Prix Hamilton admitted it is gonna be tough for the team to top Ferrari but is looking forward to when they beat them at their best.
"We want them to be at their best so that we can challenge them and if we finally beat them while they are at their best, it feels better. They are a formidable force and are doing excellent work at the moment," Hamilton said in
Paddock Pass.
"They will be very hard to beat in the coming races. They click with their package and it is interesting to see how that evolves into next year, as the car is an evolution of this year's car."
"Hopefully next year we will have a season where we are closer together."
