Lewis Hamilton had mixed feelings on his scooter when he explored the track. He says he is thinking about the fatal accident of Ayrton Senna in 1994.
For many drivers, this is the first time that they are coming to Imola with Formula 1. Only Kimi Raikkonen has ever driven here in F1. Normally we never see Hamilton doing a reconnaissance lap, but because this is also his first time on the circuit, he decided to do a lap anyway.

Historic place

Several emotions came to the surface with the Mercedes driver, he says to RaceFans. "The history of 1994 is something we should always remember. I took a lap today and that was very special. To go around and see this historic circuit, with also the hard memory of the place where Ayrton crashed".
Hamilton says he still thinks it's special that he gets to race in such historic places. "It's very unreal for me when I'm driving through places like the tunnel in Monaco or the British GP where you know the greats in the sport once raced here. Earlier I was in an area where Ayrton did what he loved most 26 years ago. On the one hand, it is heartwarming to think that 26 years later I can do the same. But on the other hand, it's just another race".
