Lewis Hamilton was once again investigated by the stewards for an impeding incident. It has seemingly been a recurring issue for the Briton. 'No further action' verdicts in Japan and Canada
Over the course of the 2026
Formula 1 season, Hamilton has been investigated multiple times by the stewards for impeding. The first time it happened was at the Japanese Grand Prix, after he was allegedly in the way of Max Verstappen. The stewards declared that the incident needed no further action, as the Dutchman also said it was not a dangerous incident.
Another 'no further action' verdict came for Hamilton in qualifying for the Canadian Grand Prix, when he allegedly impeded Alpine's Pierre Gasly.
Grid penalty for the Hungarian Grand Prix
In qualifying for the Hungarian Grand Prix, Hamilton did receive a three-place grid penalty for impeding Oscar Piastri in Q3 at Turn 1. That dropped Hamilton from second to fifth place on the grid.
The Ferrari driver then wrote on social media:
"After 3 penalties in 3 weekends, it’s becoming difficult to hang on to that positivity. Still, I won’t let the setbacks take away from the progress we’ve been making as a team." Hamilton makes no friends in Madrid
Hamilton was not investigated for any impeding incident at the Madring by the stewards. However, multiple drivers
voiced their concerns with the Briton during the practice sessions.
First was Nico Hulkenberg, who encountered the
Ferrari through the final corners. The German said over the team radio:
"Oh my god. I mean, that's just nasty, he could've easily let me by, and I finish the lap and easily let him by again."Then, Carlos Sainz also said over his team radio after he passed the Ferrari driver in 'La Monumental': "Lewis, letting me by in the middle of Turn 12, it's always the same, it's so dangerous. Like it takes zero effort to be two meters more to the left. Zero effort..."
