Lewis Hamilton won his seventh world title this weekend, matching Michael Schumacher. His engineer at Mercedes, Peter Bonnington, is now working with a seven-time world champion for the second time in his career.
After the Turkish Grand Prix it can be made official: Lewis Hamilton is a seven-time world champion. That is of course a bizarre number, especially when you see that only Schumacher managed to collect as many titles. It is therefore very special that Bonnington has been able to work with these two greats.

Two unique collaborations

''Previously I worked with Michael. That was a legend and a great driver. At that time with Michael I learned a lot and when Lewis came it didn't feel like I was ready to assist someone who already had a world title in his pocket. The first time we started working together it felt like a rock star walked in,'' says Bonnington to Sky Sports.
''One world title can't be compared to another, but it's clear that every year we improve in order to finish at the top. In such a relationship it's about trusting each other and understanding each other. We have grown since we started together in 2013 when I really saw myself as a young engineer," concludes Bonnington.
