Hamilton doesn't need to be knighted: ''I didn't save anybody''

Lewis Hamilton has been put forward by several people to be knighted in England after his performance in Formula 1, but the Brit himself does not need that. He thinks others are more suited to this.

With his seventh world title, Hamilton has achieved a remarkable achievement in Formula 1, but also as a sportsman in England. There are therefore many people like Johnny Herbert who believe that Hamilton should be knighted. After a tweet from the Royal House of England, speculation increased, but Hamilton does not see it as a necessity.

''When I think of that honour, I think of people like my grandfather who fought in the war. I think of Sir Captain Tom, who was knighted but waited a hundred years for that incredible honour. The people who work in the hospitals, the doctors and nurses who save lives during the toughest period ever,'' says Hamilton, according to Motorsport.com.

''I didn't save anyone. It is an incredible honour given to a small group of people. What I can say is that I am very, very proud to hear the national anthem on stage. I am a proud Briton and this is really the most special moment where you can represent your country," concludes the Mercedes driver.
