Hamilton and Verstappen disagree: 'Let's not dramatize it'

Former F1 title rivals Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton sit next to each other during the FIA press conference for the Canadian Grand Prix. The two discuss the porpoising issues and disagree.

Verstappen is not happy with the FIA's intervention regarding the porpoising problems. The teams that suffer a lot from the bumping are going to be helped by the FIA and Verstappen and Sergio Perez seem to see that as a disadvantage for Red Bull Racing. Verstappen came out early with a fierce statement about the FIA's intervention, but the conversation between Verstappen and Hamilton during the press moment continued.

Hamilton came out of his W13 in Baku considerably battered, by his own account. Verstappen is asked about the physical effects of the porpoising and sounds unimpressed. Motorsport-total.com quotes the Dutchman: "I don't think we should dramatize it now. Of course, the bumping is not good and it shouldn't be, but in every sport, you give up a part of your health - for example with football."

According to Formula1.com Hamilton admits that it sometimes takes him up to a week to recover after bouncing from a race. He suffers mostly from bruising. Hamilton is also asked if he factors this discomfort into his decision to continue in F1. Hamilton: "I honestly assume that the problem will be solved next season, but time will tell." Verstappen stands firm and believes that porpoising is just what it is.
