Guenther Steiner is satisfied with how the season has gone. Whereas Haas F1 finished completely bottom without points last calendar year, it managed to put in a good performance more often this year. However, the team boss believes there is still room for improvement, he stressed in conversation with Formulapassion.it.
"We had two difficult years with the pandemic, but recovered," Steiner states. "The season we just finished went well, but it could have been better. We can look at it as a year of growth."
In Brazil, Kevin Magnussen caused a big surprise. The Danish driver managed to finish ahead of Max Verstappen and George Russell in qualifying and be in pole position. In the sprint race, he already had to relinquish that position, but that did not lessen the joy.
"This year Kevin gave us pole position. In 2023, we want to grow even more, make another jump in the standings, fight for points every race and be on the podium one day. We need big goals to achieve them and grow."

Confidence in next season's engine

According to Steiner, Mattia Binotto, who until recently was team boss of Ferrari, informed him this autumn that the Italian formation is coming up with a strong engine for 2023. It would mean that the Americans could also benefit from an excellent power unit, making Steiner look to the next calendar year with confidence.
