Gulf looks set to return as a sponsor in Formula 1. The big oil company was seen at McLaren once more in 2021, possibly again for a full season in 2023.
Gulf is an iconic brand in motorsport. The colours orange and blue first appeared at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1923. The Mirage-Ford cars were then featured in those colours. Over the years, there have been many iconic liveries from the oil company, including McLaren's F1 car at the 2021 Monaco Grand Prix.

Gulf's return to F1

Gulf and McLaren have a rich past, which was revived in 2020. From 1968 to 1974, the two had a rock-solid relationship and won seven Grands Prix. There were no wins with the livery in 2021, but Lando Norris did climb the podium.
The partnership with Gulf was terminated by McLaren at the end of 2022, but the oil company announced on Twitter that it would make an announcement soon. This would involve a Formula 1 announcement, which would include a picture of an F1 car. Currently still shrouded in black, but possibly soon shrouded in blue and orange. Which team would be involved is not yet known.
