The Australian Grand Prix on Sunday morning was mainly dominated by Max Verstappen's retirement. However, much more happened in the race. Which driver was actually the best of the day according to the readers of GPblog?
Charles Leclerc was the big winner of the weekend. Thanks to an impressive qualifying session, the Monegasque was allowed to start the race at the front and did not encounter a single moment of trouble, taking the win.
Alexander Albon did not reach the podium with his Williams. The driver put in a strong performance by finishing in tenth place and thus scoring points for the first time since his return. In comparison, his teammate Nicholas Latifi did not get further than the sixteenth final position. Thanks to a whopping 39 percent of the votes, he also received the title of 'GPblog driver of the day'.
Sergio Perez received 15 percent of the votes and completes the top three. Whereas the Mexican has struggled to stay near the top drivers in recent years, in Australia he showed that he has developed himself quite a bit since the beginning of 2021. With a second place, he made his team proud.
