GP Australia begins building stands for upcoming F1 race

The Formula 1 season kicks off in Bahrain in early March, followed soon by the race weekend in Australia. Although the organisers still have more than two months to go, the first grandstands are now standing.

The GP of Australia has taken place at the Albert Park Street Circuit in Melbourne since 1996, where Damon Hill was the first winner. Over the years, it grew into a successful event that is usually met with much enthusiasm.

For years, the Australian race weekend was the start of the new season, but since the corona pandemic, it has been Bahrain. Last season, the event took place again for the first time after a two-year absence and Charles Leclerc was the big winner, while Max Verstappen dropped out due to car problems.

This season, the Australian GP is third on the programme. Whereas the drivers will start in Bahrain in early March, they will then travel on to Saudi Arabia. As the China GP has disappeared from the calendar, the teams have four weeks of rest after Australia.
