Pierre Gasly has been named as Daniel Ricciardo's successor at Red Bull should the Aussie leave, but Gasly himself thinks that Carlos Sainz would be a much more logical choice for the Bulls.
Ricciardo could extend his contract at Red Bull, but he's made it clear that it's not a sure thing, and that he'll be looking at what other offers are out there.
Should he leave, however, then it will probably be Sainz who takes his place, Gasly thinks.
"It would be logical if they choose Carlos, because he has much more experience in the Formula One," Gasly tells Motorsport.
"The only thing I can do is show how good I am and show that I deserve a place at Red Bull that way.
"However, I also realize that I just started in the F1 and that it takes time to develop.
"For now, I fully concentrate on Toro Rosso and the races that are next."
Red Bull have some exciting months ahead of them. They could be deciding on getting a new driver to replace Ricciardo if he leaves, and they also have to decide what engine partner to have for next season. Red Bull has been flirting with Honda but could also opt to stay at Renault.
