Whilst
Max Verstappen dominated the race again and had no problems at the front on Sunday, it was a completely different story for
Pierre Gasly. The young Frenchman eventually finished in P9, just behind Leclerc, but it was a fairly invisible race for Gasly.
Afterwards, Gasly was not satisfied with the strategy that was chosen. According to Gasly it made them a lot slower than intended. This he says to
Motorsport.com. "It was probably more difficult than we expected. We thought we would benefit a bit more from the two stops, but it wasn't ideal. We were a little bit limited."Early problems for Gasly
The tyres Gasly was driving on started creating problems after just a few laps he revealed. "I was already struggling with the rear tyres after five laps. I tried to extend the stint. It wasn't the right tyre for the race, that's why we switched to the hard tyre early on."
Still, according to Gasly, it wasn't all negative. In the end, two points were obtained.
"I wouldn't call it a bad day. I think it was still pretty good considering the tyre we started with." Gasly will have to wait another two weeks for sporting revenge, when
Formula 1 moves to Silverstone.
