Throughout 2022, Ferrari have been near the top of the timesheets as they look to mount a challenge for the World Championship. Now into the real season, and Ferrari remain at the top, but Pierre Gasly set the fastest time in FP1.

Gasly fastest, but Ferrari very strong

Gasly sets the fastest time during the first free practice of the year. Still we know nothing of the actual inter-race ratios, but the first hit is worth something. Gasly drove a 1:34:193 on the red and softest tyre. He was followed by Charles Leclerc on the medium tire and his teammate Carlos Sainz also on the yellow tire. They were good for a 1:34:557 and a 1:34:611 respectively.
The drivers will not have shown the back of their tongues yet, but these times and the difference in tires say that Ferrari is probably in a better position than AlphaTauri. A little further down we only see rivals Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton. Lewis Hamilton mainly just drove his own schedule and didn't seem to be going for fast times. Yet on the soft tire he is only good for a P7. Slower than Verstappen on P5 with the yellow tyre. See below the full list of times of all drivers during FP1.
